Discover Cardó mountain range from chapel to chapel

The unknown mountain range of Cardó was chosen by the Carmelites monks in the XVIIth Century as an ideal place to build a their “desert”, a lonely location away from inhabitated places, close to nature, with plenty of water. They built a monastery and up to 14 chapels, some of them quite inaccessible, like the Columna chapel. They also built several fountains, still running nowadays and known by its medicinal properties.

We offer you the oportunity to discover most of the chapels thanks to the paths restored during 2014 by the Picossa ramblers association. A stunning itinerary walking past places like Cova Lluminosa and with impressive views over the valley.

The activity can be combined with a wine tasting at Biopaumera winery in Rasquera. And don’t forget to tast the “pastissets”, the sweet dessert of the village.
