Description

Guided Wine Tour to the unique Priorat

Yes, below you will find the description of this wine tour, but we first want to share with you the best description ever made of it, by one of our visitors, Rick (June 2022):
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this tour. We had a great time. My perspective… this is not a typical bus trip. I found this trip to be much more immersive. Imagine a new friend picking you up in their car and taking you to meet some of their best friends and favorite neighbors. Meritxell was our host and graciously translated for us when necessary. Loved the wines we tasted and the people we met. The people of Priorat are just very genuine. I would and will recommend El Brogit and would do this trip again in a heartbeat.

  • Are you staying in Barcelona and want to enjoy a nice day out into the unknown amazing region of the Priorat, with wines famous worldwide?
  • Do you want to taste wines from both appellations of origin, DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant?
  • What about a unique organic olive oil tasting of several varieties and blendings, paired with local products?
  • Do you want to forget about driving, be more sustainable by taking the train and enjoy a private tour guided by a local?

Itinerary
Wine tourism day in Priorat. Private tour from Barcelona (also available from other cities).
The Priorat is a region with ancient wine tradition, with wines already famous from as far back as the XIIth Century, well known for their powerful flavor and taste. Nowadays, in the Priorat, there are two appellations of origin (DO), the qualified DOQ Priorat, which is formed by the Historic Priorat territory, and the DO Montsant, a newer DO, however, producing surprisingly good wines.
The Priorat area, with its diverse but unknown wine landscape, is full of hidden and unexpected spots of great beauty, walks between vineyards that pleasure us with an ever-changing scenery over the four seasons, full of colors and intensive aromas.
With this private tour, you will be able to “taste the Priorat wine region” in one day, enjoying its powerful landscape and savouring both appellations of origin of the wine. Recently, we have also added to the tour a tasting of organic olive oil by a local producer. A unique experience to savour real high-quality olive oil!

The itinerary combines a train trip from Barcelona or any other village with a train connection to Marçà-Falset with a private guided tour. Private tour with a taxi picking you up at your hotel is also possible. Do not hesitate to contact us for a tailor-made quotation.

In this Covid19 year, we have also added the option of a self-guided private wine tour. We always prefer to offer this tour with our local guide, as it really connects you with the territory, its wines, and its people, but we can also understand you may prefer to tour the area on your own, with your own (hired) car. With this option, you have all the assistance service of booking the wineries and restaurants and getting the recommendations of the wineries that best meet your interests.

Services included
  • Pick up at the Marçà-Falset train station by a local guide (private pick up from your hotel is also possible, contact us for further information)
  • Guided tour by car/minivan during the whole day (group of up to 8 people)

  • Tasting of organic olive oil paired with local products by its producer, which makes a delicious lunch (when this is not possible, lunch in a local restaurant is included)
  • Insurances (civil responsibility, accidents, and basic travel insurance included)

The price doesn’t include the train tickets, the visit to the Carthusian monastery (closed on Mondays, can be included depending on the available time left), and anything else not indicated above.
The self-guided tour option includes booking of the following services:
