For those opting for a mountain bike adventure, a variant route of 11 kilometers with an elevation gain of 300 meters and a descent of 150 meters is available. This path includes a visit to the Oratori de Sant Miquel and passes through the charming town of Espluga de Francolí.

As you approach the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet, the grandeur of this UNESCO World Heritage Site unfolds before you. Explore its impressive cloisters, royal tombs, and tranquil gardens, all reflecting the spiritual legacy of the Cistercian order. Your 2nd day. Discovering Vallbona de les Monges from Poblet.

Continue your journey along the Cistercian Route as you set out towards the serene Monastery of Vallbona de les Monges. This stage spans 21 kilometers, featuring a gentle elevation gain and descent of 400 meters, providing a beautiful blend of picturesque landscapes and historical landmarks.

As you leave Poblet, take a moment to appreciate the stunning surroundings of the Natural Park of Poblet, where lush forests and rolling hills create a tranquil atmosphere. Your path leads you to the charming village of L’Espluga de Francolí, where you can pause to explore this town and perhaps enjoy the local cookies “carquinyolis”.

An alternative biking route through Solivella offers a longer journey of 31 kilometers, with slightly more elevation gain, allowing you to experience the diverse landscapes of the region.

As you approach Vallbona de les Monges, the Reial Monestir de Vallbona de les Monges awaits you. This stunning monastery, known for its tranquil atmosphere and rich history, has been a spiritual haven for women since the 12th century. Explore its elegant cloisters, beautiful gardens, and the remarkable church, which reflects the deep spirituality and dedication of the Cistercian order.

Your 3rd day. Exploring the territory from Vallbona to Rocafort de Queralt.

On the third day of your journey along the Cistercian Route, set out from the tranquil Monastery of Vallbona de les Monges towards the charming village of Rocafort de Queralt. This stage covers 21 kilometers, featuring an elevation gain of 550 meters and a descent of 500 meters, offering a delightful mix of scenic beauty and cultural exploration.

As you depart Vallbona, take a moment to soak in the peaceful ambiance of the monastery’s surroundings. The path leads you through picturesque landscapes dotted with vineyards and olive groves, embodying the essence of rural Catalonia. Your first stop will be the village of Rocallaura, known for its stunning natural springs and the local wine production that thrives in the region.

Continuing your journey, you’ll arrive at Belltall, a small village rich in history and charm. As you wander through its narrow streets, you’ll discover traditional Catalan architecture and the warm hospitality of the locals. This is a perfect opportunity to engage with them and learn about their customs and way of life.

The route then leads you to Forès, a picturesque village that boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Your 4th day. Journey from Rocafort de Queralt to Santes Creus monastery.

On your fourth day of adventure, set towards the historic Monastery of Santes Creus. This stage covers 23 kilometers with an elevation gain of 500 meters and a descent of 700 meters, showcasing the diverse landscapes and rich culture of the region.

As you leave Rocafort, the path takes you through the charming village of Montbrió de la Marca, known for its serene atmosphere and beautiful countryside. Continuing your journey, you’ll encounter El Cogulló, a stunning natural area that offers breathtaking views. This picturesque spot is perfect for a brief rest, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the surrounding hills and valleys.

The route then leads you to the Pont d’Armentera, where the tranquil Gaià River flows beneath an emblematic stone bridge. This charming area is rich in history and provides a perfect backdrop for photos as you prepare to approach your final destination for the day.

For those opting for the mountain bike variant, the route extends to 25 kilometers with an elevation gain of 600 meters and a descent of 800 meters. This variant includes the scenic Camí de Vallespinosa making it an good choice for cycling enthusiasts.

As you draw closer to Santes Creus, the majestic Royal Monastery comes into view. This remarkable site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most significant Cistercian monasteries in Catalonia. Explore its magnificent Gothic architecture, serene cloisters, and the royal pantheon where members of the Aragonese royal family are buried.

Your 5th day. The final leg, retourning to Montblanc.

On the final day of your Cistercian Route journey, you will return to your starting point, Montblanc. This stage covers 21 kilometers, featuring an elevation gain of 500 meters and a descent of 500 meters, offering a beautiful blend of scenic landscapes and cultural encounters.

As you depart Santes Creus, take a moment to reflect on the spiritual journey you’ve undertaken. The path leads you along the Ruta de la Capona, a scenic trail that meanders through many elements built by the farmers using the dry stone art: walls, water cisterns, hut, shelters,…

Your first stop will be the charming village of Pla de Santa Maria known for its agricultural and industrial heritage. Continuing your journey, you’ll arrive at Figuerola del Camp, a delightful village that boasts beautiful landscapes and historical sites. As you make your way through the Bosc del Rector, enjoy the serene ambiance of the forest, where the sounds of nature create a peaceful backdrop for your hike. This lush area is perfect for a moment of reflection before you head towards your final destination.

The route then leads you to Prenafeta, a small village that showcases the beauty of Catalonia’s rural landscapes. Here, you can take a brief break and savor the tranquility of the countryside before continuing your journey back to Montblanc. For those opting for the mountain bike variant, the route extends to 25 kilometers with an elevation gain of 600 meters and a descent of 800 meters.
