Trek&Wine in Cardó

La Garnatxeta and El Morrandes, two of our Explorers and experts in wine and food (respectively) will guide you on this break, that combines hiking and wine tourism with accommodation in Rasquera. As you know, you have to walk a bit and enjoy your surroundings to work up an appetite and earn a good lunch and a tasting of some local produce. On the first day they’ll take you round the 14 (!) hermitages dotted around the “desert” of the Cardó hills, revealing some strikingly beautiful hidden corners. The next day they’ll take you up to the Coll de Pins, a pass where you’ll gain an insight into one of the episodes of the terrible civil war.

But both days, in the afternoon La Garnatxeta and El Morrandes will be delighted to take you to visit one or two local farmers. You can meet the owners, connect with their authentic spirit and their everyday work and finish off by tasting the olive oil, wine and cava they produce.

ITINERARY
A Trek&Wine experience guided by La Ribera Explorers La Garnatxeta and El Morrandes. Get ready not just to discover the natural, cultural and historical heritage of the area round Rasquera, but also to savour its delicious olive oil, wine and cava.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN RASQUERA.
Arrival in Rasquera. Stay in country holiday accommodation.

DAY 2: FROM HERMITAGE TO HERMITAGE IN CARDÓ.
Half-day walk in the Cardó hills, with different options to suit your physical condition or mood. You can visit some or all of the hermitages hidden in expected spots in the heart of the hills.
In the afternoon, taste olive oil and wine on a visit to a winery in the village.

DAY 3: REPUBLICAN COMMAND POST AT CARDÓ.
Half-day walk near Rasquera to the Coll de Pins and General Lister’s vantage point. A peak with a stunning view that will help you to understand the concept of “total war” and the bombardment that took place in the rearguard.
In the afternoon, try some more olive oil and the wine of another Rasquera winery. This is optional for travellers who have to return home early.
