Ecotourism, walking and wine tourism in Catalonia: book local with us!

TERRA MELLIFERA. Igniting resilience, cultivating futures.

Co-funded by the European Union’s TASTE programme, Terra Mellifera is a pioneering initiative led by El Brogit in collaboration with Mel el Remei, a fourth-generation beekeeping SME. Set in the heart of the Prades Mountains, this project tackles the critical climatic threats facing bee populations by merging ecotourism with regenerative agriculture.

Through an integrated approach, we are transforming apitourism into an active conservation tool:

  • The citizen science farm: We are establishing a 1.2-hectare gamified farm planted with diverse melliferous flora to protect local pollinators.

  • Digital apicultural heritage: Visitors become “bee investigators” through an interactive, self-guided digital itinerary that culminates in authentic, “hive-to-palate” honey tastings.

  • Pioneering resilience: We are championing the EU ‘Fire Product Resilient Landscape’ certification for local agroforestry farms, proving that sustainable land management and apiculture are vital tools in wildfire prevention.

POLLINATING EUROPE. A transnational alliance for heritage, biodiversity & resilience.

Recognized as a top-tier initiative by the EU (scoring 90/100 for funding), Pollinating Europe represents a strategic scale-up of the Terra Mellifera model. We have built a gastronomic and cultural bridge uniting Northern and Southern Europe to address the critical decline of pollinators, the architects of 70% of our global food supply.

By uniting three validated European pilots into a single, robust methodology, we move beyond passive tourism. Our goal is to transform everyday visitors into active “Pollinator Guardians”.

The triangle of knowledge exchange
This cross-border cooperation merges the unique strengths of three European rural SMEs:

  • Catalonia (The Game): El Brogit provides the active engagement mechanics, turning nature visits into gamified challenges.
  • Italy (The Soul): Cooperativa Amico delivers immersive, sensory storytelling that connects visitors emotionally to the life of the hive.
  • Latvia (The Voice): Paldaži farm builds a high-fidelity, QR-based digital micro-story infrastructure to capture the authentic daily life of the beekeepers.

The core innovation: the pollinator passport
Implemented simultaneously across all three nations, this hybrid product guides tourists through physical puzzles in apiaries, emotional hive narratives, and digital windows into partner farms. It creates a unique gastronomic bridge, allowing visitors to compare aromatic Mediterranean rosemary honey with robust Baltic linden honey, ensuring a truly regenerative, farm-to-fork experience.
